Challenge
Make supporting creators as effortless as shopping online.
Affiliate marketing relies on shoppers using a creator's unique links to ensure they receive credit for purchases. But even loyal followers who want to support a creator may forget to use those links or find it inconvenient to seek them out.
The challenge was to eliminate that extra effort, allowing shoppers to support creators without changing their existing shopping habits.
Solution
Make support automatic, without interrupting the shopping experience.
I designed and developed Via, a Chrome extension that makes supporting creators effortless by working behind the scenes as shoppers browse their favorite retailers.
Scope the MVP: Prioritized the core features needed to replace our paper score sheet and saved everything else for later.
Design + build in tandem: Made UX, UI, and technical decisions simultaneously, using AI coding tools to turn the concept into a functioning web app.
Test at the table: Put the app to use at the very next game night, using real gameplay to uncover friction and guide improvements.

Impact
Making the most of an invisible opportunity.
Via eliminated the need for shoppers to remember or manually navigate through my affiliate links, making referrals a seamless part of their existing shopping habits. Beyond building and publishing a functional Chrome extension, this project reinforced a simple design principle: sometimes the best user experience is the one you barely notice.
